NEW YORK, December 4, 2008 — More than 1,000 financial professionals, prominent business leaders, and philanthropists will honor Gary D. Cohn, president and co-chief operating officer, The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc., and Jonathan M Harris, president, Alternative Investment Management, at The Wall Street Dinner, to be held at The New York Hilton, Avenue of the Americas at 53rd Street in New York City, on Tuesday, December 16, 2008 at 5:00 pm. This event, organized by UJA-Federation of New York’s Wall Street & Financial Services Division, is one of New York City’s most important and prestigious philanthropic events.
Cohn will receive The Gustave L. Levy Award. Considered a preeminent honor in the industry, this award recognizes a leader in the Wall Street community both for exceptional professional achievement and for an enduring commitment to UJA-Federation. Previous honorees include Richard A. Friedman, Daniel S. Och, Morris W. Offit, Michael Minikes, Leon M. Wagner, and Jeffrey B. Lane.
Harris will receive The Wall Street Young Leadership Award which recognizes a young professional who demonstrates exemplary leadership, a steadfast commitment to the community, and continued generosity to UJA-Federation. Previous honorees include Larry Robbins, Scott S. Prince, Alexandra Lebenthal, Ricky Sandler, Jeffrey L. Verschleiser, and Stephen J. Girsky.
Philanthropists and business leaders saluting the honorees include dinner chairs J. Ira Harris, chairman, J.I. Harris & Associates, LLC, and Daniel S. Och, CEO, Och-Ziff Capital Management Group; along with journal chairs Jeffrey Cohen, managing director, Banc of America Securities; Steven C. Jaffe, vice president, Jacobson Partners; Holly Newman Kroft, senior vice president, Neuberger Berman, LLC; David G. Kupperman, partner, Alternative Investment Management; Marc Lasry, chairman and CEO, Avenue Capital Group; Marc S. Lipschultz, member, Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co.; David Moore, CEO, Moore Holdings, LLC; Richard C. Perry, CEO, Perry Capital; David Z. Solomon, managing director, Goldman, Sachs & Co.; Lenard B. Tessler, managing director, Cerberus Capital Management LP; and Leon M. Wagner, chairman, GoldenTree Asset Management, LP.
This event has been transformed from a traditional card-calling dinner to a dynamic gathering, attracting both the “Titans of Wall Street” and the future leadership of the financial industry. There will be an extensive cocktail reception instead of a formal dinner. Following the program, there will be a Wall Street After Hours Party, a friendly competition with Trump Entertainment Resorts as the corporate partner, featuring Texas hold’em, blackjack, roulette, craps, interactive video games, dessert, open bar, deejay, and prizes.
